Anhwa-ri Rock Paintings

고령안화리암각화

Anhwari Rock Paintings are rock paintings from the Bronze Era, located at San-1 Anhwa-ri Ssangrim-myeon Goryeong-gun. They are registered as Memorial No. 92.

There are three paintings that are 115㎝ in width and 90㎝ in length. The images are chiseled onto sedimentary metamorphous rocks. Basically, there is a u-shaped semi-circle on top and symmetrical arrow-shaped lines on both sides. Also, sacred blood is engraved symmetrically in the painting to the right.

These paintings are similar to the paintings found in Goryeong and at Chilpo-ri of Yeongil. Thus, we can anticipate that the lifestyles of coastal and inland people were similar during the Bronze Age. Rock paintings are important historical resources that tell us much about the rituals, expressions, and religions of prehistoric people.
