Gaepo used to be called GaeSanPo and the name changed to Gaegyeongpo through history of transporting PalMan-DaeJang-Gyeong (over 80,000 Wooden blocks for printing books) by route of YulMoiJae~Goryeong-Eup~NatJilSin-Dong~YaRo and during the Japan occupation acquired the current name. Up until ChoSun Era, it was a large port that transported grains and salt for GyeongSang-Do area. And it used to be filled nightly by anglers.
