Mt. Misung (美崇山, 757m) is the highest peak of Goryeong-gun located on the border between Dagaya-eup and Yaro-myeon of Hapcheon-gun.  It used to be called Mt. Sangwon.  The peak has a flatland surrounded by steep slopes.  The edges have been surrounded by stone walls (397 steps in circumference) since the early Joseon Dynasty with springs, ponds, and armory.General Yi Mi Sung of Andong, who supported Jung Mong Joo, battled against Yi Seong Gye and died here in the late Goryeo Dynasty.  General Mi Sung Lee built a fortress and trained the soldiers on this mountain to fight against Yi Seong Gye and the mountain's name was changed in honor of his integrity. Mt. Misung was where General Yi Mi Sung gathered soldiers and build a fortress in the late Goryeo Dynasty to fight against Yi Seong Gye, the founder of Joseon, and recover Goryeo.  He eventually failed and died here. Around the peak are the remains of Misung Fortress's gate and sites and a spring by the gate.  Misung Fortress was built during the Age of Three Empires and used until the Joseon Dynasty. On the peak is Kkadakbawi that shakes when pushed.  There is the historical Banryongsa Temple by Ssanglim-myeon, Goryeong-gun to the southeast.  The trail course to the top of Mt. Misung is safely laid from behind the training center in Sangdae Village, a highland to the south of the mountain.  There is a big fernbrake community around Munsu Peak on the northern part of Mt. Misung.
